INTRODUCTION
The following lessons demonstrate how spiritual numbers shine a brighter light on Bible truth.
Numbers are just a different lens through which we see the same Bible truth, the same person of Jesus Christ, the same messages of Scripture. The beauty of spiritual numbers is they convey truth in mathematical relationships, displaying an elegance that is awe inspiring.
GOD SPEAKS IN LANGUAGE AND IN NUMBER
By two or three witnesses every fact is established. Those who insist that reading words in a modern translation of the Bible is sufficient for spiritual guidance limit themselves to one witness. They will most definitely miss all God wants them to know.
For example: Genesis 18, the account of Abraham pleading with God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if there are believers still residing in the city:
“Then he said, ‘May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. “What if only 10 can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it”. When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left. and Abraham returned home.” (Gen. 18:32-33)
Why did the Lord stop at 10? If you don’t know the spiritual meaning of numbers you would never guess yet the number 10 is highly significant in this context. The number 10 means “Testimony”. The Lord is saying he will not bring destruction to Sodom and Gomorrah so long as there is a testimony for him in the city. What kind of testimony does he mean? Billboards with Bible verses? The number of the verses gives us a hint: 32 means “Fellowship” and 33 means “Scattered Remnant”. The position of these verses in the chapter indicates the testimony the Lord is looking for is a fellowship of believers. A scattered remnant is not a testimony for him. There is a spiritual principle here that is very significant in the context of prophecy and the coming judgment of the world in the Great Tribulation. The point is the reader of Genesis 18 who only reads the words will miss this deeper principle God wants to communicate. To get all the richness of the revelation of God, we must look at all the witnesses.

The subject is uplifting in so many ways in my own walk with God. It delights me that others share this joy. If I were you I’d print out as much as you can and file it in binders or at least write the number meanings down somewhere. We don’t know how long we will have the internet or the free speech to publish on it. Also, I am mortal and aged. The longest plan I can buy for WordPress is only two years out. Hi Mark, I believed that God has blessed you to devote yourself to bring out this precious study about numerical Bible Study. I have been look for such materials and by chance discovered them you have them. Now I wanted to study the numbers through the Hebrew alphabets, and I hope from there I will be able to understand the number in the Bible and their meaning.

After I was truly saved, during the first two months or so, I received a burning desire to know WHY it was 5 loaves 2 fishes, WHY the Ark of the Covenant was the measurements that it was and so on. I told my fiance ( who was in jail) about my new desire I couldn’t explain and he reminded me of numbers he felt he HAD to give me ( he was becoming quite uncomfortable as I told him before this that we don’t play the lottery) but now I said ok. He said that he felt he HAD to tell me I could add a number or combine two if I felt led to. He gave me the numbers and as I looked at my reference table I got from the internet, a sentence started to form and I felt a strong urge to write it down. When I was done, it said, ” Preach the Gospel to the whole world because soon the light that is in the world shall be taken away”. I thought this message was for me and my fiance, but I took it to my friend and mentor and crying, I begged him to pray first so that I could be sure this wasn’t numerology or some other thing not of God. He prayed and I showed him everything. I told him to see what he got if anything and he asked if he could add a number or combine and I said yes. He did and it was his birthday. He hit his knees. I cried. Humbled. Felt incredibly close to God. Sometimes numbers jump out at me.I understand that God set rules that are unshakeable. Rules of science, math, the stars everything has a path even our choices, every one of them, down to minute details so intricate it boggles my mind, have His fingerprints that He created them, in numbers all around us. They aren’t just significant in the Bible, they are still significant. God never changes. He’s consistent. Like numbers. Solid. Where I live now has His reminder to me that His Grace is sufficient ( my favorite verse is 2 Cor 12:9) right on my door. The number on it is 208. But the number designated for my apartment is 213. Two hundred means not enough and eight means The One Who Abounds. I looked up the number and hit my knees and cried.. humbled again. He shouts at me like I told him I needed Him to do. And it’s always the same. Be patient, My Grace is sufficient, I love you. I thought I was crazy or alone in this numbers thing I still don’t have a name for. It’s my spiritual gift. I’ve never heard of anyone having anything like it. No one understands my gift. Today’s date jumped out at me. Not a good date at all and I’m not leaving my house, because what I see is man’s number. I’d have to write it out and show someone who might understand but so far no one can.
Hi Lynne. Ha! I can relate to what it is like to have a gift others don’t appreciate. The good Lord has shown me things I won’t write here because it is too far out for people, even mature believers to accept. “My ways are higher than your ways” is still true. Of all the proofs of God, and there are many, my favorite is the laws of the physical universe. All scientists agree the whole universe came out of nothing. Big bang or whatever. But what possible POWER could there be that KEEPS the laws of gravity, electromagnetism, atomic strong force, etc in OBEDIENCE every millisecond in every corner of this HUGE universe? Only a POWER greater than the universe itself. Only a Creator God. “Every hair on your head is numbered”! Blessings sister. servant mark

I’m enjoying your post concerning pi, euler’s e, etc. but seems to be too intense. Not that you haven’t done really well with the presentation; just that I doubt many would (or maybe ‘could’) follow it thru to the exciting truth.
An easier way, IMO, is to see the 66 names in the Pedigree of Jesus, and note that each name is unique (no repeats) EXCEPT for the name of Jacob. The two Jacobs are both found in Matthew chapt. one.
Everybody knows of the 3×14 generations in Matthew, but few are aware of the 3×10 in the OT leading to David#33. Gen6:9 re Noah “perfect in his generations” got me thinking. The second Ten is in 1Chr1:24-27, and the 3rd Ten is at the end of Ruth, though it “skips” 3 names and begins with the son of Judah and Tamar: Pharez.
Here’s the significant part — Enoch was the 7th generation and Lamech was the 9th generation, and the second Jacob is the 63rd generation!
There are some stumbling blocks, which I speak to on the Generations page of my website (http://www.cswnet.com/~duxrow/webdoc5.htm ) concerning the two Cainans of LK3:36,37 and the debate over ‘husband’ being ‘gbra’ in Aramaic or ‘aner’ in Greek.
In the OT was a Jacob to Joseph, and likewise in the NT, but that first Joseph was NOT in the pedigree (Num1:18) and neither is Mary’s husband!
Peter said of Paul “he writes many things that are hard to understand”, so I guess I’m in good company. It might surprise you to know there are millions of people in the world (mostly students and scientists) who appreciate the significant constants in math and physics. There would be relatively few who have an interest in Old Testament genealogies.

Hi, It’s been sometime now I see #23, 26,61 all the time. It is almost supernatural. I am extremely serious here. Like I just came back from lunch and I was sitting at whole foods facing the parking lot and I see 3 cars right in front of me on with 23 one with 61 and another with 251 – like 25+1= 26 – Can you tell me more about the meaning of this number combination.
